Sign-off of the Disney Channel recorded sometime in late 1986, at the time a premium cable service. Before December 7, 1986, the Disney Channel signed-off at 1:00 AM Eastern & Pacific Time, returning to the air at 6:00 AM. The off-schedule time would usually be used to feed channel promos for the cable operator to air during unsold local avails on other channels, but on these nights, Disney was testing its scrambling abilities. (Notably, this was a few months after the infamous Captain Midnight/HBO signal intrusion incident, instigated by that channel's decision to scramble its satellite feed.) Also notable, the operator at the satellite uplink facility almost immediately recognizes and corrects a spelling error in the scramble notice just before the cable operator's (Viacom Cablevision, sold to TCI in 1995 and now part of Comcast) character generator automatically kicks in, promoting a free preview of the channel—Disney would convert from a premium service to a basic service in 1999. **NO REQUESTS PLEASE** The content that I have will be posted as it is converted and uploaded.
