Across The Snowy Plains of Winterhold - this is the title of a track I have been working on for the last couple of weeks. This year I studied a lot about orchestration and composition and started to build up a foundation of orchestration techniques by composing lots of short sketches. Since I listened to the music of Jeremy Soule for the first time, especially his works in the Elder Scrolls games and other games like Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights I have been a great fan of his music. I always admired his composition skills for their unique and calming ambience. The way he creates these ambient kind of soundscapes with an orchestra has always fascinated me. A few weeks ago I started to analyse his composition techniques and made the decision to compose a track similar to the Skyrim Soundtrack. The track you are listening to is the result of all my efforts and I must admit that I am very satisfied with my composition. I spent countless hours writing parts, going over them over and over again, writing parts, deleting parts, rearranging parts until I finally finished my work.
