As Todd does almost every day, he told me that he loved me. I will usually talk to him for a while and tell him I love him too, and sometimes get up and give him some pets. Today, when he said it, I needed to go downstairs and go to the bathroom, so it was a quick I love you and a few pets then I went downstairs. Todd thought about this for a moment and then said No. After a bit more, he said Bye. This is unusual because Todd does not use the buttons when I am not in the room with him. Todd is a 7-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons.
