PART ONE: We drive up and check in with the App... We intended to film more on Saturday the 4th but those plans changed for multiple reasons. We will be back out at the trail head on the 18th to finish filming. Let's hope the drone works this time. We have listed the maps on GAIA GPS under FloridaJeepRides. If you get out there please let us know if you were able to do the entire trail in one day. I hear that there are many fallen trees on the North West portion. Saturday the 20th we took a ride through Ocala National Forest. A couple days later news hits social media about a new BoF. Badge of honor from Jeep. The info was confusing and sketchy at best. The map image showed the Centennial Trail. The problem is that trail is for ATV and Dirt bikes only. NO JEEPS. We decided to take a ride up there to check in with the app and see if we could find a detailed map. Once in the area we checked in and a congratulations you got a badge came up. Set the app for directions and it drops you smack dab on the center. We drove around on names and numbered roads and shot some video of different areas. We stopped and talked to a few ATV guys and crossed over the Centennial trail on several occasions. We headed up to the trail head to see if there was more info. Same stuff here, no Jeeps allowed on the trail that the badge has an image of. We made a stop at the clay pits, another place closed off to driving. So off we went to a water hole that is in an area that was open to Jeeps... nope they bolt up a dirt mound and covered the trail in trees. By noon it was hot and the deer flies were relentless. We headed back up to 40 and headed home. Over the next few days more info and some better maps showed up. We have located the trail head way up to the northern end. We used a low resolution image of the map and comparing that to the 2020 Forestry’s Highway vehicle permitted map to plot a GAIA GPS map. I have heard that some groups have navigated the rout and give a pinstripe warning. Narrow trails in Ocala? Nothing new. Mud holes and water crossings? That’s the norm up there. So for now we wait till time will allow us to venture out and test the map. If you have made this run, please post up some info. The Forestry website still shows it as closed, but they replied to a email stating all named and numbered roads are open. A word of caution: Don’t go off on small or unmarked trails. The fines are very high and you will get ticketed. Worse yet you may end up on a ATV trail and hit an oncoming bike. For now, stay tuned more info to come. The "Tread Lightly Offroad Drive Way" Trail starts up in the North end. E Hwy 316 and National Forest Rd 97. That's just West of Kerr City. Make sure that if you run into any road closed signs find a legal way around. I also would not recommend this as a solo trip. Here is the link to the map: https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=10.5...
