Heya! Join me as I choose colours for my new watercolour palette. I take you through my colour picking process, and how I use colour cards to decide my palette before any pouring occurs. I also explain my colour choices and my intentions for this palette and what I will be using it for. Colour choices are very individual to an artist, based on a mixture of their preferences, what they learnt with, and what is available to them. For example I am only using colours I already own at the moment, and I also love having lots of blues and greens available on my palette. Other artists may prefer a larger range of warm tones, earth tones, or more of a certain characteristic like opacity. There's great beauty in our diversity, and I hope you enjoy watching my own interpretation of a palette and comparing it to your own practice and other palette videos out there :D My intention with this new palette is to make a "hybrid" palette - something that has a large range for studio use, and is still just small enough to use as a travel palette. This palette is a touch smaller than an A5 sketchbook, so it easily slips into my bag with my sketchbook and pencil case. I probably wouldn't want to go any larger than this for a travel palette, and it fits my own needs for a larger range of colours when out and about.
