https://cbso.co.uk/education This performance marks the final year of the CBSO Share the Dream project – a four-year programme taking place in primary schools in Shard End, Lozells and Northfield, using the 2022 Commonwealth Games celebrations as the stimulus. Since the project began in September 2018, pupils have been given the opportunity to work with a team of CBSO musicians and creative leads, to generate lyrics and musical ideas in response to the themes of inspiration and developing aspirational talents. Each year, composer John K Miles then used these ideas to develop new movements for the final piece, which year 6 pupils from Brownmead Primary Academy and year 5 pupils from Lozells Junior and Infant School, have rehearsed under the direction of CBSO choral conductor Ula Weber and are performing this evening. In 2019 the project encountered an unexpected change when a pandemic descended on the world, impacting our lives in unimaginable ways. The population had to isolate from each other. We were confined to family and friendship 'Bubbles’, only mixing with a small number of people in a series of national 'Lockdowns’. The concept of existing in Bubbles extended to schools and places of work and we were led to a broader definition of how inspiration can enrich our lives. The piece talks about finding inspiration within, overcoming self-doubt, working hard, persevering, and finally developing our inspiration into something we can share with others. “If we listen within and we open our eyes there's a talent that leads to a dream” John K Miles – 2021 We are grateful to the Clive Richards Foundation, principal supporters of the CBSO’s work with young people. This project has been made possible with generous support from the JABBS Foundation and the Rachel Baker Memorial Charity.
