INSIDE WW2 GERMAN U-BOAT BASE & SUBMARINE

Follow us as we take you on a walkaround inside and outside, and reveal amazing aerial views, of the massive WW2 German U-Boat bunker site at Saint-Nazaire. Located in the Pays de la Loire region, this is one of the largest concrete constructions built outside of Germany during WW2. This megastructure has an incredible history, including being the location of what has been described as the 'Greatest Raid of All' where 600 British commandos attacked the bunkers and caused mayhem to the dock area. They left a ship-sized, ticking timebomb in their wake - HMS Campbeltown - which later exploded and stopped German battleships from using the port. Defending the entrance to the U-Boat bunker is a huge fortified lock building, and inside rests one of the most famous French submarines of all time - the 'Espadon', or Swordfish. In this film we take you inside the lock building and the submarine itself, showing you the massive exterior, and cramped interior of this Cold War vessel. For transparency, we insisted on paying the entry fee to the museum and submarine so we could be objective with our filming, and received permission to film inside the submarine from the tourism board.
