A discussion between Sebastian Junger, contributing editor at Vanity Fair, author of "WAR; The Perfect Storm; Fire; A Death in Belmont," and co-director with the late Tim Hetherington of "Restrepo"; and Michael O'Hanlon, MA '88, Ph.D. '91, director of research and senior fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at The Brookings Institution, senior author of the "Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan Index projects," and co-author, with Hassina Sherjan, of "Toughing It Out In Afghanistan." The discussion, held May 18, 2011 at the Princeton Club of New York, focused on Junger's most recent book, "WAR." The book documents Junger's time embedded with a United States Army platoon, from 2007 to 2008, in Afghanistan, and chronicles the psychological and social elements of combat and the unbreakable bonds that are formed between platoon mates. Junger's experience is also the focus of the documentary Restrepo which won the Grand Jury Prize for a domestic documentary at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010. The film was also a 2011 Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary Feature. http://wws.princeton.edu
