A recently acquired cherryhead redfoot tortoise was pretty sick when she was brought to me. She is suffering from a bacterial infection similar to a cold that a human would experience. Tortoise anatomy makes this a much more serious condition than for a human. This video shows some of the symptoms and her on-going treatment on the road to recovery. If you have a sick tortoise, do not delay in taking it to a qualified vet. Keeping a tortoise in the proper conditions with a good diet will, in most cases, prevent this.
