At the time of filming, these Dong Yang lifts were undergoing replacement, with both of these blocks only having one lift left each. Even though they could last for a few more years, a failed major repair of one of these was likely the reason for the early replacement. Even the Dong Yangs at a nearby cluster were also replaced. Block 175 was the only VIP block in Singapore to have Dong Yang lifts installed, and although similar-sized lifts were found in commercial HDBs none of them were high-rise like these. For some reason, they also had their manufacturer's decal pasted over with a custom one, likely made by the Town Council. Block 176's lift also has intelligent leveling which is quite uncommon for these lifts. Due to the lift replacement works, the lifts were very busy. As a result, I was not able to film a full ride on Block 175's lift. The blocks themselves were also really dark, as I went here on a really cloudy evening with heavy downpour.
