Living with Epidermolysis Bullosa - Coping with Pain during Bandage Changes (English subtitles)

The movie provides information on Epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a severe congenital skin disorder, in which even slight abrasions or pressure lead to skin blisters on the epidermis. This results in painful wounds. Many children with EB suffer from acute and chronic pain. Especially the regular changing of bandages is accompanied by severe pain. The aim of the movie is to show strategies to deal with pain during a child's change of bandages. Families learn how to support their child, how to reduce anxiety and stress-experiences and thus prevent the development of a chronic pain disorder. In this movie, a wonderful family with a marvelous little boy suffering severe EB show how they deal with pain and how they face the challenges of everyday life for a child suffering from EB. The target audience are families, but also nurses, physicians and psychologists who care for a child with EB. The movie was produced by the German Paediatric Pain Center and Paediatric Palliative Care Center at the Children’s and Adolescent Hospital Datteln, Germany and is subtitled in English.
