If you're outside the UK or don't know who Disorda is, he's been a huge part of the scene over here since at least the 1990s, helping crews get their material out, distributing and running the mail order site Suspect Packages (RIP), keeping UK Hip Hop alive through a long line of radio shows, and in recent years branching out into DJ tutoring and working on the Concrete Castle Dubs label. The sound quality isn't too great here as the recording is taken from the original cassette. That said, this mixtape was a bit of a watershed for me. It felt like the scene in the UK had been quiet for a year or two around 93/4. There were still a few decent nights and good records coming out, but the scene generally wasn't firing compared to the burst of creativity out of the US in the early Nineties. Then this tape dropped, and it felt like crews across the UK were once again raising the bar. And a lot of credit for that has to go to Disorda for bringing everything and everyone together under the SP umbrella. There's some great stuff on here, with tracks from Blade, Lewis Parker, a couple of banging little live sessions from Bristol's Undivided Attention, Def Tex, and IM, and more gems from the likes of Outlaw Posse and Son Of Noise (to name a few).
