Cherry Ripe started broadcasting around the 1960s between frequencies 18.864 MHz and 21.866 MHz. It was believed to have been ran by the British Secret Intelligence Service. Cherry Ripe was the sister to "The Lincolnshire Poacher" because it had a similar tune to her sister and used the same automated female British voice. When The Lincolnshire Poacher stopped broadcasting in 2008, Cherry Ripe started appearing in 2009. In September 2009, Cherry Ripe was moved to Humpty Doo, Australia. Cherry Ripe was last heard in December 2009. When heard Cherry Ripe transmitted a tune from the English folk song called "Cherry Ripe" then an automated British female voice is heard reading out 5 groups of numbers (example 0-4-8-0-6) and last digit was spoken in a higher pitch. The tune would play and then she would repeat 5 groups of numbers. This is another recording of "Cherry Ripe" you can hear the English folk song "Cherry Ripe" tune and a British female voice reading out 5 groups of numbers.
