Neutering is one of the most common and most important procedures in veterinary medicine. Beyond preventing unwanted litters, it helps reduce the risk of prostate disease and certain cancers, improves behavior by lowering testosterone-driven aggression or roaming, and supports community efforts to decrease pet overpopulation. This case highlights the pre-scrotal neuter technique, where the incision is made just in front of the scrotum rather than directly into it. This approach provides excellent access, minimizes trauma, and allows both testicles to be removed through a single incision. To ensure safety, the spermatic cords are double-ligated with a secure modified Miller’s knot, reducing the risk of bleeding while keeping the procedure efficient and reliable. Equally important is how the incision is closed. The internal inguinal openings are carefully sutured to prevent hernias, followed by layered closure to support healing and reduce complications. A small tattoo is applied to confirm sterilization status, which is critical for cases of undescended testicles that may not be visible externally. This is Part 2 of 3 in Bandit’s neuter case. Part 1 focused on surgical prep and anesthesia safety, while Part 3 will cover recovery and post-operative care, completing the full picture of how Maricamp Animal Hospital manages every stage of this essential surgery.
