Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was an Austrian composer of the early Romantic era. Though he died at just 31, he left behind over 600 art songs (“Lieder”), as well as symphonies, chamber music, piano works and choral pieces. This compilation features a selection of Franz Schubert’s most iconic Lieder, arranged for cello and piano, including pieces like Ständchen, Du bist die Ruh, and Ave Maria. To complement Schubert’s works, we’ve included a few pieces by Gabriel Fauré and Johannes Brahms that share a similar lyrical and intimate character.
