Easy Simple Giant Paper Flower Tutorial DIY plus Free Petal Template

If Lori Can Do It, You Can Too! This is a quick DIY on how to make a giant paper flower using relatively easy to obtain materials. Link to free flower petal template used in video https://anyonecancraft.files.wordpres... Disclaimer: This project does take about 30 minutes to do. Please read descriptions as I have tips that I found out AFTER making the craft. What you will need: 1. Two different flower petal templates Click on link above for petal template or if you want a different one, please refer to video on how to get one via Google Search. 2. White Cardstock Paper -Walmart for about $7 a packet of 150 sheets. I used 13 sheets for this project 3. Scissors 4. Hot Glue Gun (Mini hot glue gun) - Michaels or Hobby Lobby for $4 with tax 5. Glue sticks - I had them 6. Pipe Cleaner - Dollar store 7. Hole Puncher - Hobby Lobby 8. Pencil ***9. Two uncoated Paper Plates - I used a coated paper plate and my flower petals would fall off of it after hanging on the wall a day. It happened to 3 of the 7 that I made. I flipped the plate and used the uncoated side and the flower petals have not fallen since then. This flower Required 12 large petals And 12 small petals. Steps: 1. Plug in Hot Glue Gun Tip: Use a plate to put the hot glue gun in 2. Use the hole puncher and punch two holes on one side of the paper plate. 3. Thread the pipe cleaner through the holes and twist it on itself to make a hanger for the flower once you are done. I used clear thumb tacks to hang mine. Tip: Print two copies Of your flower petal template on cardstock paper and cut out your templates that way. Card stock paper is a lot firmer than using “copy paper” therefore easier to trace with. OR, you could trace the printed “copy paper” version on cardstock paper, trace it on cardstock, and cut them out; which is what I did (longer way). 4. Trace out both flower petal templates onto one card stock paper. (Fit both templates on one cardstock paper) 5. Cut out trace images with two cardstock papers on top of eachother or together to save you time. 6. Using 5-6 petals At a time, Bend flower Petals to mimick a Real flower Petal. **When you eventually glue your petals down, make sure all of them are facing the same way as the bend that you just made here. Flowers will look different depending on the side you choose to put down. *** Please Refer to step #17 concerning petals to make the flower bud. ( You can use a pencil or a round tool to help bend your flower the way you want to. ) 7. Cut the middle of each petal 1-2 inches Long From the base Tip: Cut several petals at a time 8. Using scrap Paper, cut out a big Circle To use for The base of the Flower Later 9. Overlap The bottom flaps of The flower Petal to make the petal bend Tip: The more you overlap the flaps the more the paper will bend. Do not bend the outer petals too much so that they can look open. As you progress into the inner layers, you can start overlaping the flaps more depending on how you want your flower to turn out. 10. Glue The Overlapped flap To secure How much you Want the petal to bend. 11. Glue petal In front of pipe cleaner so that the pipe cleaner does not Show when you hang the flower.  12. Repeat to next petal and Glue another large Petal to opposite side of the first petal so that it mirrors each other. 13. Repeat until You have 6 Outer petals. 14. Second row: Using large petals, Repeat the process But glue the petals in between the first layer petals. 15. Glue paper circle in The middle of the flower before starting The third row. 16. Repeat the same process on the third row using the smaller petals. 17. For the inner most layer, Glue the bottom of the 2 small petals together. Tip: It is actually easier if you do not initially bend the petals of the innermost layer like I did to all the petals in the begining. It was harder to fold them because I initially bent these petals. 18. Fold the petals together so they overlap and resemble a flower bud. 19. Glue the edges of the small petals together and stick them to where you want them depending on how you want your flower bud to look like. 20. Glue another Small petal to the base of the flower bud you made, and glue the outer edges of that flower to where you want it to sit on the flower bud. 21. Repeat on the other side. ** Before The last step, you should have two more petals left. Go ahead and do steps 9. And 10. to those petals and add them in the center of your flower mirroring each other and in between petals in the third later. This way, when you glue the flower bud down in the center of your flower, the flower will look fuller. 22. Glue the flower bud that you have been working on in the center of your flower.
