Data Dialogues | Presentation | Using data to track child protection legislation

Publishing of datasets related to child protection can improve institutional accountability, identification of gaps and challenges in law enforcement practices by various departments, help make evidence-based assessments and amendments to laws and policies, and can help in bringing timely justice to children in our country. We recently published a detailed research report and factsheets in collaboration with HAQ - Centre for Child rights on Tracking the Implementation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Assam, Delhi & Haryana using data from courts. In this presentation we highlight a few facts from the report, the importance of using data to track laws, the state of POCSO in Assam, and how can we move ahead to create robust data systems to track child protection legislations.
