The video opens with a parent making a very fast fish delivery, gets mobbed & flies to wallenda branch (I think this might be Gabby). The juvie gets the fish and begins to eat. Bodie waited for an opportunity and when it presented - Bodie stole the remains of the fish and ate it! WTG Bodie. Later in the afternoon, Bodie and the juvie are together on the nest. The juvie will fly up sunset branch and look down at Bodie (so cute to see the juvie's face in the upper right corner looking at Bodie) This must have given Bodie the incentive and idea to try branching! So Bodie does a ps, does some wingercising, tries to grab at a fish with its talons but but then found it easier to just pick it up and move it. Bodie nibbled but then left the fish and did more wingercising and up the branch for a second and then back down! Great first branching Bodie! Branching is the process by which the eaglet makes its first short hop/flight to the branches adjacent to the nest. Both feet must be off the nest to be considered branching. Branching allows the eaglet to practice gripping and perching and also allowing them to stretch their wings, improve their coordination and balance which will be needed for flight. The definition of what constitutes branching will vary from nest site to nest site. Thank you for watching!
