Ethiopia sees rise in exports to U.S.

Despite losing AGOA privileges in January, which allow the country to export goods into the US on a quota-free, duty-free basis, Ethiopia's exports to the U.S. rose by double digits. The US Government revoked Ethiopia's AGOA access, citing gross human rights violations in the conflict in the country's northern region of Tigray. Despite that, in the first three months of 2022, Ethiopia exported goods worth $ 167 Million to the US. That was nearly 56% higher compared to the same period in 2021, and the highest in the preceding 5 years.
