Hit track "Gregorian House #5" from the smash album "Gregorian Haus", coming to you live from the world of Neo Yokio. (Feat. a slightly distorted version of "Bye Bye Macadam" by Rone) This is a fan-made mash-up where I decided to spin off the idea of "Gregorian house" that was briefly mentioned in Neo Yokio. What would it sound like as a genre? Well, maybe this. And now, some liner notes. I ended up picking "Bye Bye Macadam" on a whim, while searching for something that felt more appropriate for "Gregorian house". But then I tried it out with some plainchant and by sheer luck, I think, stumbled on a combo that worked very, very elegantly. I did quite a bit of fudging with the Gregorian chant in Audacity to make it align perfectly all of the time, instead of just half the time... and I think the final result actually ends up improving the original, chant-free track. (Sorry, Rone!) The chant adds a sort of mournful hopefulness, and a lot of harmonic beauty, and the chant even ends up adding a new melodic hook to the original track itself. I'm very pleased with this one, and it ended up being yet again a new take on the "Gregorian house" genre -- and in a direction which I have not really replicated since. Also, a Fun Fact For You: when I first uploaded it, the track was automatically taken down due to Youtube's copyright algorithms. To keep it up, I had to mess with the pitch and slow it down a bit, but in this case, I don't think it did any harm to the resulting music. If anything, it kind of improved it by exaggerating the dreamy quality. (For full backstory behind what's up with these tracks and also why I added in liner notes, see my comments on Gregorian House #1.)
