Positioning and Patience Set up your shooting position near bird feeders, water sources, or favorite perches. Position yourself with a clean, uncluttered background, such as sky or foliage. Stay still and use natural or artificial blinds to avoid scaring the birds. If it’s your first bird feeder, it can take a week for the birds to find it. 2. Lens Choice The Olympus 75-300, 100-400mm or 300mm f/4, 150-400mm lenses are great options for bird photography. 3. Timing Birds are most active early in the morning or late in the afternoon, providing good light and dynamic activity. 4. Focus Point Anticipate the bird's flight direction and put it on the opposite edge of the frame. Half-press the shutter button, wait for the bird to fly, and then full-press. Release the shutter button as soon as the bird is out of frame. 5. Tips Use natural light whenever possible. Overcast skies can provide soft, even lighting, while morning and evening golden hours add warmth. Practice regularly to improve your timing and understanding of bird behavior. Post-processing: Edit your images to enhance colors, sharpness, and noise reduction using software like Photolab, Lightroom, or Olympus Workspace. Editing Star potential images. Crop with extra space in front of bird or direction. Brighten the birds eyes, beak, and talons. Fill in shadows under wings and body. Darken Background and/or lighten bird. “Pick” final edits and export with noise reduction.
