The Brother HL-L2350DW is a simple, monochrome, or black and white, laser printer that can connect wirelessly to any computer or device in your home or office. At first glance, the Brother L2350DW is really unremarkable: A very simple gray and black plastic device that reminds you of the simple industrial design of printers in the 90s. Its reasonably small footprint doesn’t take up much desk space, measuring in at 14 inches in length by 14 inches deep by about 7 inches tall. Now if you do plan to put it on a dedicated printer cart or table, I recommend using a reasonably sturdy one, as it weighs about 16lbs. I’ll leave links to some printer carts that’ll work, right below the video. The printer's main interface is this single-line LCD screen, which again reminds you of something from the 90s. The menus are reasonably intuitive and easy to navigate, using the buttons on the keypad below the screen. This screen is perfectly functional and you seldom have to use the screen or keys; But, it would be nice if Brother could bring this interface into the 21st century- maybe a larger screen, maybe a color screen or even the revolutionary idea of a screen you could touch. Who knows...the possibilities are endless, we are ofcourse in the 21st century and have solved the Y2K glitch- if you don’t get the Y2k reference please google it. All jokes aside- when it comes to initial setup the Brother L2350DW was truly a breeze to setup and I do have a separate setup video which walks you through the entire setup process, including wireless setup, so feel free to check that out. Once set up, you can print to it from pretty much any device that’s connected to the WiFi network that the printer is connected to. You can print to it from a laptop, desktop and almost any mobile device. You can even print to it from a Linux computer. And in case you just want to connect it to a single computer, you can do so using the USB port on the back. The L2350DW has two different paper trays. The main tray is an automatic tray that can hold as many as 250 sheets of paper as large as Legal size. And ofcourse it will also handle smaller sizes like Letter or A4. The second tray which is a manual tray, can handle all those sizes but can also handle envelopes, which is really useful for small offices or home offices. However, this tray can only handle one sheet or envelope at a time. The slanted paper output tray can hold upto 100 printed pages. And this is extremely useful because the 2350DW is a pretty fast printer. And luckily it isn’t just fast, the black and white prints it produces are crisp, sharp and are exactly what you’d expect from a laser printer in the office. Another big advantage this printer has over a home inkjet is how efficient it is with ink. The L2350DW uses Brother’s TN730 toner cartridge which can print about 1200 pages on a single cartridge, making it very cost effective. You can reduce your print cost even further, if you upgrade to the high yield TN760 toner cartridge which will print about 3000 pages, before it runs out. I’ll leave links to both cartridges below, in case you’re looking into buying some. And in case you’re wondering, it does also handle double sided prints. It is also rated to handle maximum print volume of 15,000 pages a month, making it well suited to use even in small and medium sized offices. The only feature that commercial users may miss is an ethernet port for users who need to use it as a secure, network printer for multiple employees.
