Ethnic Germans expelled from east European countries after the war are calling for compensation. Three million Sudeten Germans were forced to leave their homes in various central and east European countries. In the Czech Republic, the so-called Benes Decrees enforced the expulsion - a kind of ethnic cleansing endorsed by the allied governments. Now, with the Czechs about to join the European Union, some Sudeten Germans are calling for compensation and they are backed by right-wing parties in Germany and Austria.
