SOUNDBITE (English) Iryna Venediktova, Ukraine Prosecutor General: "Actually, what we see in Kramatorsk, it's the strategy of how Russian army and Russian troops do their war. They just kill civilians to scare them and not let them evacuate themselves and their families. They want to scare and cause panic in Ukrainian cities for capitulation." 7. Venediktova talking to reporters 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Iryna Venediktova, Ukraine Prosecutor General: "We don't know what will be the next. Mariupol is our pain too. You see what they are doing in Mariupol. That's why it's not only the war crimes, it's the crimes against humanity, systematic crimes against humanity." 9. Various of body bags near mass grave STORYLINE: Ukraine's chief prosecutor said the missile strike, killing at least 50 people at the railway station in Kramatorsk, was part of a Russian strategy to scare civilians. Iryna Venediktova was speaking at the mass grave at a church in Bucha on Friday, as authorities began the painful process of removing the bodies. Black body bags were laid out in rows in the mud. Photos from the scene showed bodies covered with tarpaulins on the ground and the remnants of a rocket with the words "For the children" painted on it in Russian. About 4,000 civilians were in and around Kramatorsk station at the time of the missile strike, the office of Ukraine's prosecutor-general said. It said most of them were women and children heeding calls to leave the area before Russia launches a full-scale offensive in the country's east. The Russian Defense Ministry denied attacking the station in Kramatorsk, a city in Ukraine's contested Donbas region, but President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian leaders accused Russia's military of deliberately targeting a location where only civilians were assembled. =========================================================== Clients are reminded: (i) to check the terms of their licence agreements for use of content outside news programming and that further advice and assistance can be obtained from the AP Archive on: Tel +44 (0) 20 7482 7482 Email: [email protected] (ii) they should check with the applicable collecting society in their Territory regarding the clearance of any sound recording or performance included within the AP Television News service (iii) they have editorial responsibility for the use of all and any content included within the AP Television News service and for libel, privacy, compliance and third party rights applicable to their Territory.
