Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the Thule OutPace Bike Rack on the back of our 2020 GMC Acadia. Now this can be a great option if you're looking for something that's not only gonna save space on the back of the vehicle, but also your home too. 'Cause this actually has to shank that folds up into itself. So it's a lot easier to work around and you don't have to worry about tripping over it. But first, lemme talk about how this rack is gonna interact with our vehicle. So right now with our bike on here with a mountain bike, we still have plenty of space in between our back window and the handlebars. Even if you're on those really bumpy roads, we're not gonna make contact. And if you do need access to your hatch, you still have that ability. All you have to do is come over here, pull on the strap. It'll lower it down and then you have it. Now this has a pretty good tote, even with the capacity to 55 pounds per bike. So it can even handle your wider e-bikes. Now when you're lifting it up, just watch out for that pedal here. If you have it in an awkward spot, you might make contact. Here we're just fine. Same thing for the very top. Most cases you will be fine 'cause even with these mountain bikes we have clearance. But if yours are extra wide, you might have to pull down on the rack some to get that clearance. But the reason why you might want to do this is if you're out and about, you wanna go grocery shopping, you can do that now. Or if you wanna get ready for your ride, tie your shoes, or even grab your helmet, you can do that too. Once you're done, just load this back into position. Lift back up on the rack until it clicks. Now if we wanna take a closer look at this rack, I might have to remove my bike. So we're gonna have two points on the tires that we're holding it down by. Gonna lift up on this other arm, give a better look at that. What I like about this is 'cause it's at this extreme angle, it gives you a really good hold on the bike. Same thing for the backside. Over here, you also notice you when pull on this, this will ratchet down. And that's how it gets so tight compared to other bike racks out there. Now I'm done with that. You come up to the frame, we have this third one here. And since we are making frame contact, I wouldn't recommend anything with a really nice paint job 'cause you wouldn't want to scuff that up. But when we're done here, we can just take a bike off and take it out for a ride. And you have a couple different ways you can store this when you're not riding around, or when you don't have any bikes on here. You can put these cradles back in the center by folding 'em in, just like that. Now I'm not gonna be doing that today because we can save a little bit of space just by keeping 'em out. And typically you want to have these arms down. Just like that. I'll typically put my straps into place so they're not dangling around as you drive. So the next thing we'll wanna do is get a couple measurements, just see what this is going like when you are driving around, especially in parking lots. So the first one could be the ground clearance. This here is gonna be sitting at 28 inches. That's a ton of space, so you really won't have to worry about if you're going up any steep inclines. Now for the total distance away, this is sitting, that's only gonna be 24 inches. So for a two bike rack, that's pretty compact. Now I will say sometimes when you have two bikes on here, it can be a little bit tight with the handlebars. So sometimes you might have to get creative, but it will work with most bikes. Now it is gonna have a folded position, but I'm not gonna put it in that position today and I'll show you why. When I fold this up by pulling in this rubber handle, we're gonna be making contact with our vehicle. Now you will be able to put this in the up position, but you will make contact with it. So if you don't like that, you might have to leave it down. It still will be pretty compact either way. But the nice thing about that is it is gonna be plastic on your bumper, so you don't have to worry about metal on metal contact. But if you keep it down like this, you won't have to worry about anything being blocked, like your license plate, your backup camera, tail lights, or your back window. Now the way it's go
