Welcome to Making Monday with Herbal Roots zine where kids learn about herbs! I'm Kristine Brown today I'm going to demonstrate how to make a resin based salve. Pine resin salve is a great salve to have on hand for wounds, cuts, scrapes, splinters, sprains, strains, and so much more. To make Pine resin salve, you will need to first infuse an oil. You can use just about any oil. Olive oil is a popular choice. Today I’ll be using some tallow, which is an animal based fat. In addition to your oil you will need: Pine resin Some beeswax A double boiler with water in the bottom A spatula A ladle A strainer Some cloth to line the strainer with A glass measuring cup or other vessel to strain your oil into A jar for storing the finished salve A label for the jar and a heat source to melt your oils and wax Want to learn more about Pine and other great herbs?
