Michael Conlan won gold at the World & European championships and Commonwealth Games gold twice. He picked up a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London but was on the receiving end of a bad decision at the 2016 Games, which robbed him of a second Olympic medal. The controversial decision, followed by Michael’s expletives-filled post-fight interview, where he called out the judges and AIBA for cheating, caused his profile to skyrocket. This led to every promoter on the planet lining up to sign him to the professional ranks. He started his pro career out in the States, making his debut in Maddison Square Garden, New York, with Conor McGregor walking him to the ring. After a year in the USA and going undefeated, he decided to return to Ireland with his young family. Once he got home he linked up with trainer Adam Booth, who has trained many world champions during his career. After a few wins, they got the world title shot against WBA champion Leigh Wood. Micheal would lose the bout by KO in the final round, having dominated the fight from round 1. The epic encounter would win ‘Fight of the Year’. After getting back to winning ways, they got a second chance at the world title against Mexican IBF champion Luis Lopez. Again Conlan would come up short, losing by KO5. After the bout, Adam and Michael parted ways. Mick began training under legendary Pedro Diaz. After suffering a third KO loss Michael took a break away from boxing. He found a love for running, joined a running club. His running game improved so much that he ran a sub 3 hour marathon. He also brought his own brand of beer, Le Gra. The beer is receiving great reviews and is available throughout Ireland and internationally. During his fighting career, Michael started ‘Conlan Boxing’ with his brother Jamie. After running a number of successful shows and signing some great talent, Michael has decided to step away from promoting and focus on his own fight career. He’s not done yet and believes he will win a world title!
