After years of practice, the architect’s personal home draws interest, reflecting his experiences and ideas. Inspired by the peaceful views of Vembanad Lake near his office, he wanted to recreate that calm in his own home on the opposite side of the lake. Called "The Plumeria’s - home in a city," the house serves as a model of an ideal urban home. It features green terraces, rooftop vegetable gardens, and solar panels, making it a self-sufficient space while blending beautifully with nature. The home is built above the ground, keeping the land and trees undisturbed. This elevated design provides great views of the backwaters and improves air circulation. The untouched ground beneath the house becomes a yard where children can play, and it also serves as parking and event space. Privacy and security are maintained through smart design, like adjustable louvres on the bedroom windows. Inside, the living room faces a water court, leading the view out to the backwaters, while sliding glass doors extend the living space to a lily pond, creating a seamless connection with nature. The house is designed to suit Kerala’s hot and humid climate, using materials like insulated terracotta bricks, and features deep overhangs and green roofs to keep the house cool. The layout is practical, with service areas placed in the center for easy access. A sculptural staircase connects different levels of the house, and the primary bedroom, with its stunning views, offers a peaceful retreat.
