Interrogation of the Woman Who Stabbed Her Foster Mother 200 Times

Sabrina Zunich was the foster daughter of Kevin and Lisa Knoefel. Sabrina Zunich was the daughter of a couple that struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and spent years in and out of the foster system. In 2011, Zunich began to believe that her foster mother Sabrina gave the other two daughters preferential treatment and began to fight often. On November 16, 2012, police received a 911 call from one of the sisters. In the call, she was screaming that Zunich was murdering Lisa. Police arrived on the scene and found Zunich drenched in blood and holding a 15-inch kitchen knife that was used to stab Lisa nearly 200 times. Zunich later claims she had a sexual relationship with the father Kevin and that he coerced her to kill Lisa. In August 2014, Sabrina Zunich pleaded guilty to aggravated murder. She was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years. Kevin Knoefel was charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated murder and complicity to aggravated murder, as well as six counts of sexual battery.
