Hemorrhoids are bunches of blood vessels arranged in three groups inside the anal canal. When they enlarge we call them as hemorrhoids or piles. Piles & Hemorrhoids are one and the same. There are different approaches for treating hemorrhoids especially when they are prolapsing. Prolapsing means they are coming out so they cannot be managed medically. So we have to do surgical procedures. Previously we use to cut and remove the hemorrhoids. It was called hemorrhoidectomy, which was the gold standard. But it was very painful and takes very long time to heal. So newer procedure were introduced. One among them is stapled hemorrhoidectomy.
