Tavira, Portugal: 5 Things to See and Do, Senior Solo Travel

Tavira, Portugal is a charming and picturesque town in the Southeast region of Portugal. I spent a little over a day there and was able to explore much of the town. I would recommend five things to see and do: 1. Visit the Roman Bridge and walk along the Gilao River 2. Visit the Tavira Castle 3. Visit the Santa Maria do Castelo Church 4. Take a ferry ride to Tavira Island 5. Wander the streets The narrow streets and alleyways are mostly cobblestone and are lined with historic architecture. It is definitely a walking town and easy to navigate. You can drive into the town, but parking is limited and there are some places where automobiles are not allowed. There are numerous outdoor cafes for you to take in the lovely settings. For senior and solo travelers, Tavira is a safe community. I especially enjoyed it because it is mostly flat.
