Jeff Kent is now a Hall of Famer and one of the greatest power-hitting second basemen in MLB history, but his rise began with the New York Mets. Acquired in the 1992 trade that sent David Cone to Toronto, Kent quickly became a middle-of-the-order threat. While his Mets years (1992–96) weren’t the peak of his career, they helped shape the elite hitter he would become. In New York, Kent hit 20+ home runs twice, led the Mets in RBIs in 1994 and 1995, and posted an .880 OPS during the strike-shortened 1994 season.
