xAPI Data Strategy: Design with the End in Mind

Simply tracking everything is not a strategy and often creates noise that makes xAPI data more difficult to use. Just because we CAN track everything doesn't mean we SHOULD. In this session, we'll outline a process for designing good xAPI statements regardless of the tools or technology used to generate this data. We will step through the following questions to create an xAPI data strategy: 1. What is the desired outcome? A report, visualization, measurement? 2. What are the report and query capabilities of your LRS to deliver those results? 3. Can you actually get the data required? 4. What existing vocabularies exist for the statements I create? We'll also explore real-life examples and current tools to help us "Design with the End in Mind".
