Greater Anglia, TFL Rail, C2C and Central Line Trains at Stratford on April 27th 2019

1st time trainspotting at Stratford Station in London which features in this video Greater Anglia, TFL Rail, C2C and London Underground Central Line. This is an extra film I decided to do after travelling up from Fremington, Devon that day to Acton Depot for London Transport Open Weekend which I visited prior to filming at Stratford. Unlike some of my recent videos which were planned weeks in advance however Stratford was a last minute decision to do although I wasn't able to cover the DLR, London Overground's North London Line, Jubilee Line and West Anglia services via Lea Bridge. On the day of filming C2C services were running into London Liverpool Street due to engineering work between Barking and Fenchurch Street Stratford first opened by the Eastern Counties Railway in 1839 with the North Eastern Railway linking here from Broxbourne a year later which both today are used by Greater Anglia services. The low level platforms now occupied by the DLR from Stratford International date from 1846 which were originally freight lines before passenger services to North Woolwich commenced a year later in 1847. The London, Tilbury and Southend Railway opened from a link at Forest Gate Junction in 1854 with services now run by c2c either when Fenchurch Street is Closed or at Weekends mostly used by Shoeburyness services via Laindon. It wasn't until December 3rd 1946 when the first underground line began running here which is the Central Line which use platforms 3, 3a and Platform 7 which was extended from Liverpool Street which emerge from tunnel which was extended to Leytonstone a few months later in May 1947. The line would extend to Woodford via Hainault in December 1947 with Loughton in November 1948 and Epping in September 1949. DLR services began running here in July 1987 from Island Gardens from Popular from Platform 4 with services to Canary Wharf or Lewisham at Peak times only with the section between Bow Church and Stratford begin single track with the DLR being relocated in 2007. Stratford has been redeveloped twice since the 1990s firstly between 1994 and 1999 for the arrival of the Jubilee Line Extension from Green Park which opened in stages between May 14th and November 20th 1999 with the line being resignalled in June 2011 under ATO with the lines main depot at nearby Stratford Market. West Anglia services from Platform 11 and 12 terminate here mostly from Bishops Stortford which began running here in December 2005 with now a intermediate stop at Lea Bridge closed by BR in 1985 but reopened in 2016. HS1 stage 2 from Northfleet Junction to St Pancras International opened on November 14th 2007 although it wasn't until November 30th 2009 when Stratford International opened even it was 2 weeks later when High Speed Domestic services provided by Southeastern began calling here with Class 395s. DLR took over the former North London Line route between Stratford and Canning Town in August 2011 with new stations such Stratford High Street, Abbey Road, Star Lane along with existing platforms of West Ham and Canning Town (Low Level) as well as extended to Stratford International. The Olympic Stadium opened for the Olympic Games in July 2012 is not far from the station which since August 2016 became the London Stadium home of West Ham United. Westfield Shopping Centre provides the back drop of the station with a underpass connection from the Low Level platforms or the steel girder footbridge carrying over the GEML, Central and North London Line platforms installed in 2011. Crossrail was suppose to start running in December 2018 however due to ongoing difficulties and overruns it's likely it won't be until March 2021 at the earliest when through services from Shenfield and Abbey Wood will begin running under London linking up with the GWML at Paddington to Heathrow Terminal 4, Terminal 5 and Reading.
