In this warm and engaging interview, Laura Kraft—affectionately known as “Krafty”—shares her journey from growing up in Jamestown, North Dakota, to becoming the Head Professional at Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford, Oregon. Laura’s love for golf began as a family affair, with her dad introducing her to the game and her mom, a talented musician, always supporting from the sidelines. Summers were filled with family road trips to tournaments, turning what could have been stressful travel into cherished memories of laughter, music, and togetherness. Laura credits her early lessons with PGA Professional Mark Johnson and the support of her family for setting her on a path that eventually led her to play Division I golf at the University of Missouri. Laura’s college years were marked by both triumphs and challenges, including a period of self-doubt that she overcame with the help of a sports psychologist and the unwavering support of her coaches, whom she describes as like family. These experiences not only shaped her as a player but also inspired her to pursue a master’s degree in positive coaching, blending her love of teaching with her passion for golf. Now, as Head Professional at Rogue Valley, Laura is excited to use her background to support and mentor members, focusing on both the physical and mental aspects of the game. She’s committed to fostering a sense of community and joy at the club, drawing on her own journey to help others find fulfillment—on and off the course.
