Old Fashioned organ music! And I love it! I hope you do to! Jacques-Louis Battmann (1818–1886) was a French organist and composer, best remembered for his vast output of accessible organ and harmonium music. Born in Masevaux, Alsace, he studied in Paris and served as organist in several churches, eventually settling in Dijon. Battmann wrote hundreds of short, lyrical pieces — marches, meditations, offertories, and other liturgical works — that became popular among parish organists throughout the 19th century. His style is tuneful, often simple, and aimed at practicality for church use. Though his music fell out of fashion in the 20th century, it is valued today for its charm and insight into everyday French organ culture of his time.
