IPS officer Y Puran Kumar Suicide: How IAS Amneet Kumar is fighting for justice for her husband

A tragic incident has unfolded in Haryana with the death by suicide of IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, a 2001-batch officer. He was found deceased at his Sector 11 Chandigarh, residence on Tuesday, having allegedly used his service revolver. The discovery was made by his daughter. The circumstances surrounding his death have led to serious allegations of caste-based harassment against senior police officials. Following the tragic event, an eight-page suicide note reportedly authored by Y. Puran Kumar came to light, in which he accused his senior officers of subjecting him to mental harassment. This critical piece of evidence forms a central part of the ongoing investigation into the officer's demise. The police have since acted on these allegations. An FIR has been registered, naming prominent figures within the Haryana police force: Shatrujeet Singh, a top Haryana cop, and Narendra Bijarniya, the head of Rohtak police, among others.
