Have you been diagnosed with gilbert syndrome? It's a common condition in which the bilerubin level remains elevated. Usually it ranges between 1 and 3 or 3.5 and most of it is due to the indirect component that is if you look at your lft report the indirect bilerubin will stay high and the direct fraction will remain very low or close to normal. And the enzymes or the SGOT and SGPT levels remain normal. So this is the classic pattern of gilbert syndrome. So what exactly is this? It's a genetic condition and it will stay with you throughout your life. Whenever you check your LFT the bilerubin will remain elevated. Do you need any treatment for this? No. The reason is that it doesn't cause any complications. It doesn't mean that your liver has any disease. So how do we confirm it? We have a genetic test called ugt-1a1 and well it's quite expensive and not always necessary. #gilbertsyndrome #liverhealth #bilirubin #geneticdisorders #healthawareness #liverfunction #medicaleducation #chronicconditions #wellness #healthtips ___________________________________________________________________________________ Apollo Hospitals is the leading multi-specialty hospitals group in India.
