RUTO-SECURITY ASSURED KERICHO COUNTY 04/07/2014 /DPPS The Deputy President William Ruto has assured investors and Kenyans in general that the country's security is guaranteed amidst heightened political anxiety over planned rallies by the opposition. He promised those planning to attend political meetings called by the opposition and those who will carry on with their business activities that their security will be guaranteed. " I want to assure every Kenyan that they are safe as they go about their businesses", said the deputy President. He said that the government is firmly in control and will ensure Kenyans go on with their daily activities without distraction even on Monday when Cord has called a rally at Nairobi's Uhuru Park. However, he remained categorical that incitement by the opposition will not deter the government from implementing its development agenda for the benefit for all Kenyans. ''The government will not be distracted by the noise, I want to assure you that Kenya will remain peaceful as we stay focused to deliver on our agenda to move the country forward,'' he said. The deputy President made the remarks today at Musaria Secondary School in Kericho County where he also unveiled a school bus. Mr. Ruto, who also held a funds drive at St. Francis Girls Kiptere in aid of the school said that the government had no time for empty rhetoric . "We are not going that route of dividing the country with empty rhetoric, our commitment is to unite this country, '' he stated adding that "I want assure Kenyans that they are safe and their businesses too are safe.'' At the same time, the deputy President said the government will not succumb to any form of provocation as it has its work cut out. He said the government's attention was on development projects that are beneficial to all Kenyans. Mr. Ruto cited various projects being rolled out by the Jubilee administration among them the Standard gauge railway that is set to boost transportation of goods and service, Uwezo fund rolled out to every constituency to enable the youth,women and the disabled to start businesses as areas that will remain the governments focus. Kericho Senator Charles and his Kiambu counterpart Paul Kimani Wamatangi told the government to be firm and ensure the that the country's security is not compromised. The Senators castigated the opposition Cord for planting hatred among Kenyans. "Raila has nothing tangible to tell Kenyans come 2017 that is why he is planting disunity in the country,''said Wamatangi. The Senators said if the opposition leaders are true statesmen as they claim,they should ensure peaceful co-existence of Kenyans. Among those present was Kericho governor Professor Paul Chepkwony, MPs Justice Kemei , Kipkosgei Sang,Benjamin Langat,Eric Keter ,,Silas Tiren and Mary Emase. ENDS/ISIYE/DPPS
