LoS 13:23 - FPV in low and high rates. 3s 2200mah 60C, 6045 props 16:10 - Dave has go at FPV with Bugs 3 As soon as you open up the Bugs3 it becomes obvious this is intended as an FPV trainer as there's a regulated unused 5V connector labelled 'FPV' and the front central LED can be removed for a camera module to be seated. I wanted to keep the front LED so decided to mount the camera through the already provided round hole in the base of the nose that is filled up with a rubber grommet. The camera I used fitted through the hole just but the square based Diatone swivel mount doesn't which was perfect. I added 2 layers of 2mm Sorbothane rubber between the cam mount and the frame, pulled down on teh camera slightly to compress it a little and melted hotglue around it to keep it secure and slightly compressed. The camera and blue leds for eyes are both powered from the unpoulated regulated 5V 'FPV' port on the FC. There's plenty of space at the front between the nose and front LED to put any sized VTX without much issue but the 200mw cheapo I had in my spares box fitted snugly between the plastic posts so I just tacked it in place with hotglue. The SMA connector I soldered to a coax extension and mounted it flush with the base. Next up was to add a lipo strap as I only had 2 small 3s lipo that fitted the cage and tons that were just too big. I decided to melt the holes with an soldering iron tip rather than cut them out which worked well and made it easy to reduce sharp edges and there was just enough room between the cage and antenna mounting for the slots so the strap can hold the cage on without screws and go pro case mounted or the cage can be removed and large lipo mounted really easily. Lastly was a small 12V regulator to power the VTX and an XT60 connector mounted flush with the base, both running directly from the lipo input/XT30 connector. With only 4 screws to get inside the Bugs 3 and oodles of room to play with, it's a pleasure to mod compared to some of the micros and brushless builds I have been doing recently. Just a few seconds after taking off those mods feel even more justified as this is a superb FPV trainer but will eat up space quick if flown fast as roll rates are slightly less than pitch. Turning in a tight space must be done by reducing the throttle and maintaining even height while turning at speed also requires the same throttle control or Bugs3 will gain altitude due to low roll rates. This actually forces learning throttle control over cyclic agility if flying fast and makes it really effortless to fly smooth. It flies very similar to the excellent Syma X8HW but has more speed, loads more torque, is fully fully brushless and can fit non proprietary props. Bugs has now dethroned my Syma for the FPV trainer I will using for people to try, the Syma wasn't bad, it's just the MJX is really great. I was going to put a betaflight FC in it for rate mode and maybe some fun 3D but at this point it's working so well as an FPV trainer, it's staying that way. Diatone swivel mount that was a direct fit. http://www.banggood.com/Diatone-Unive... The best micro cam out there I can find right now, £3 more but smaller, lighter and even better WDR. One of these is going in a 130 brushless build real soon. http://www.banggood.com/1_2g-Super-Li... The VTX was on sale for £5 but is now not available but literally and VTX will fit. I bought one of these recently for that 130 build I mentioned above for £10 on sale. Switchable 25/200/600mw. http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-TX526... Antenna http://www.banggood.com/1-Pair-Aomway... Last but absolutely not least, Sorbothane. This stuff is magic and is the ultimate jello killer. 3.2mm and 6mm sheet are great. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/dang-good-s... Music - Aerial Ace - Muciojad
