//ABOUT THIS VIDEO// Here is a simple way to make a quick hat using the stockinette pattern. The fold that comes from the stockinette stitch is perfect to create a design. In this video I show you the steps to knit a hat using straight needles. It is very simple and quick. * Material* Medium weight 4 yarn Use default needles stated on label (US 5 needle) *Steps* CAST on the stitches you need per size of hat infant = 40 sts, young child = 60 sts, woman = 90 sts, man = 110 sts for demonstration, I have cast on 90 sts KNIT THE BODY (6.75" length) stockinette pattern design Row 1: knit all Row 2: purl all Repeat above two rows till you have knit 6.75". KNIT THE BODY till you get to the decreasing portion 5.5" (infant), 6.75" (woman), 7.75" (man) - from beginning of hat DECREASE THE STITCHES Row 1: (9k, k2tog, PM)*, repeat * till end of row Row 2: purl till end of row Keep doing k2tog before PM every odd row till you have about 8-10 sts remaining Every even row is repeat of Row 2 STITCH the hat to make it circular FINISH OFF If you like this video please do not forget to give it a thumbs up, subscribe to my channel if you haven't already and also hit the little bell icon next to it for notifications when a new video is uploaded.
