Cigar Review #23: Tatuaje BLACK Corona Gorda (2013/14 "Jar"): An upload during the week!? Looks like I'm finally starting to sort my schedule out. Hopefully it stays that way... Here we have it - the 10th Anniversary release of the Tatuaje BLACK in it's original format - the Corona Gorda. From nipple cap to closed foot, this 5 5/8 by 46 ring is a carbon copy of the cigar that had the entire cigar community with Tatuaje on the brain! It EVEN comes 19 to a jar - well, I guess that's what it is... Anyway, Pete Johnson's own personal blend aimed to create, or recreate rather, a cigar that to him, was not only based on a specific flavor or blend, but on a time and place as well... In short, what Johnson was really trying to do was to recreate a nostalgic memory and capture it in a cigar, so that everyone could experience just a little piece of that moment. It's not a cigar that boasts any amazing physical properties on the outside. In Johnson's own words, "in fact some may consider it ugly." It doesn't try to look like the king of the humidor and if it didn't wear the band that immediately identifies it for what it is, many a smoker would likely pass right over it. We all know that would have been a sore mistake if we were talking about the original release back in 2007 - but we're not. So the question is, would it still be a mistake with this newest BLACK release? I'm excited - and I'd love to just type everything I found myself thinking while smoking this cigar - the newest in a long line of Tatuaje Blacks - but I simply don'y want to spoil the show. So whatever you're doing, Take a break. Fire up a smoke and join in for another review at the Dr. Joe Show - "Pure Cigar Entertainment!"
