Hash Bash 2016 Ann Arbor, Michigan, Tommy Chong, Matt Abel MI NORML

Tommy Chong = Genuine Living Legend. Of particular interest in this video: Tommy Chong's advice on how to drop the habit of smoking tobacco. The only caveat I would add is that you need to have enough high quality, AFFORDABLE cannabis for this method and that is no small problem! Also his insight into his own experience of beating cancer with cannabis. I think the point he makes about the appetite stimulating properties of cannabis and it's importance for people with any illness is worth focussing on. There may be many mainstream commercial treatments for illnesses which are effective and I think it's important to emphasise that a shift to a 'Nature informed' medicine based on whole plant remedies, intelligent extracts, and ancient/indigenous knowledge does not mean dismissing the knowledge and data that has been accrued by science in the last few centuries. We need to use this data to understand better the truly useful ways, rather than merely profitable ones, that plants can be used. That being said I can't believe that any of the conventional medicines proscribed by doctors who are paid by the big pharmaceutical companies to push their 'medicines', are also stimulating appetite and well-being! Isn't that one of the most important things for a speedy recovery from any illness? I would also add that hospitals are one of the worst places imaginable to try to get healthy again. The ideal place to recover from serious illness would be a beautiful, calm, natural place, surrounded and cared for by people you love, as physically active as possible, warm weather and fresh air, and of course lots of fresh healthy food. As Tommy says: 'If you wanna die, stop eating food!' In practice of course such ideal conditions are rarely going to be possible, but does it then follow that when we are sick we should all go to a place that is exact opposite of all these things? And that sick people should all be put together in a place where they can cross-contaminate one another, lying in beds all day (another good way to kill yourself fairly quickly) in an airless and depressing environment? Think of it in another way, the reason you put those people all together is because they aren't patients, they're customers. If we could remove the need for someone to profit out of their sickness we could work out a system whereby the vast majority could be treated holistically and SENSITIVELY from the comfort of their own homes. Assigned nurses and case-workers for in-home care, they could even grow much or all of their own medicine at home, thus further alleviating the burden on the state and ensuring the freshest most potent medicine. PLUS it would reduce the carbon footprint required to get treatments to patients! Also, stirring and refreshingly uncompromising stuff from Ann Arbor (her name means tree! Dope!). Perhaps she could have offered a clearer message to give when you call up Michigan police though? "Stop protecting police budgets, start protecting families"? Ok it's true but you need to be less vague. How about this? "We KNOW you're victimising medical marijuana patients and their families. We're GOING to tell the world. So you'd better stop doing it." - Politely, of course ;) Sorry for the essay. Will be posting my own content sometime soon and will surely address these issues again. Peace. Out.
