Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust held a ‘Working Together’ training event at Tunbridge Wells Hospital which brought together incident commanders from all three ‘Blue Light’ services plus representatives from the voluntary sector working together to demonstrate kit and discuss emergency plans. The event, which was organised by MTW’s Emergency Planning Team, alongside Kent Fire & Rescue Service (KFRS), enabled attendees to familiarise themselves with equipment which, thankfully, is rarely used but always available should it be required. Head of Emergency Planning & Response, John Weeks, said, “Not only did the event allow people to see equipment such as the mass decontamination tent, it also enabled people from different organisations to meet their counterparts and familiarise themselves with the hospital and our emergency plans.” KFRS specialist response manager, Dave Nolan said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service has an important operational role in helping to deliver the response plans that Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust has in place for managing a contamination event or clinical emergency at the hospital. Bringing together all the partners and the equipment that would be needed to effectively deliver these plans was very beneficial to all involved.”
