In this episode, I venture into one of the most misunderstood and feared regions of India: the Naxal-affected heartland of Chhattisgarh. My journey takes me from Narayanpur deeper into the tribal belt towards Kachapal—an area that was once considered a "No-Go Zone" for outsiders. I didn't take a private car or a bus. Instead, I decided to hitchhike, putting my safety in the hands of locals and traveling the way they do: on the back of a motorbike through the dense jungles of Bastar. 📍 In This Episode: The Route Less Traveled: We leave the comfort of the main towns and head onto the dusty red roads connecting Narayanpur to the remote village of Kachapal. The scenery is breathtaking—endless Sal forests and untouched nature—but the reputation of the area keeps you on edge. Hitchhiking the "Red Zone": Watch as I hitch a ride with a local on his motorbike. There is no better way to experience the reality of a place than riding pillion with someone who calls it home. The roads are raw, the dust is real, and the experience is unfiltered. The Checkpoint Reality: One of the biggest fears about traveling here is the heavy security presence. We passed through multiple police and paramilitary checkpoints along the way. I expected strict questioning, intense searches, or even being turned back. Instead? I faced zero problems. The interaction was smooth, and the security forces were just doing their job to keep the roads safe. A Sanctuary of Peace: After a long day on the road, I arrived at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram in the heart of this region. It was a surreal experience to find such a well-maintained, peaceful, and spiritual place in an area often associated with conflict. Staying here gave me a completely different perspective on the local community. 🛡️ Safety: Myth vs. Reality Before coming here, I was told this area was the "Old Red Zone"—unsafe, volatile, and risky. My experience was the exact opposite. I found the region to be super safe. The locals were welcoming, the vibe was calm, and at no point did I feel threatened. While the history of the Naxal conflict is real, the ground reality for a traveler today is changing. This video is my attempt to show you the human side of Chhattisgarh—beyond the fear mongering. If you are planning to travel to offbeat India, don't let fear stop you. Watch this video to see the real Chhattisgarh.
