HIMALAYAN ARYAN LABDAK MUSEUM back This is one of the ancient heritage house in Ladakh which was constructed around 500 years which was repaired in present architectural form by Shri. Dudho Samphel around 150 years back, this museum is a Four storied building and its having a typical look of vernacular architecture. Ground floor called Bhu is used to shelter sheep and goats. First floor called Kattsa is used during winters, where all the family members assemble together. A small passage leads to Kattsa where there is one big room housing Guru Padma Sambhava's handprints on SABDAK, an ancient symbolic sacred rock representing local god. Sabdak is placed near the fire alter and the first food cooked/prepared is offered to it. There are underground stores and adjoining small cells for stroing purified butter, second cell was used for storing house hold items. One special cell was used for the head of the family. There are horns and sacrificial animals displayed in this gallery. There is only one small window in this floor. Before entering Kattsa, there is gallery for agriculture tools. The Second floor is having SBYARKHANG, used in summer and depicts typical local kitchen and utensils including the stone utensils. The same floor has RAFSAL has thematic pictures of the tribe's different occasions in addition to Labdak family's some displays. The same floor has dress, textile and local sports and games galleries. The Third floor has the CHOTKHANG, the prayer room displaying Buddhism's statues and Thangkas. It was installed in later years and is mostly credited to Dudho Tsangkhan. The tribe slowly embraced Tibetan Buddhism in addition our own tradition. The roof gives a spectacular view of village Garkon especially the fields. On the open court yard of this floor is held the first prayer of the morning. #aryan #museum #heritage #house
