Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-based software professional has lodged a police complaint against his wife, accusing her of mental and physical harassment, and alleging that she attempted to kill him by attacking his private parts. The complaint, filed at Vyalikaval police station on Wednesday, claims that the complainant, Srikanth, faced continuous mistreatment from his wife and her parents, primarily for financial reasons. He alleged that their demands for money led to severe disruptions in his life, even costing him his job while working from home. According to the complaint, his wife would allegedly create disturbances, including dancing in front of his laptop during video calls. Srikanth further stated that when he sought a divorce, his wife demanded Rs 45 lakh as compensation for her consent. He also claimed that their marriage, which began in August 2022, had not been harmonious or consummated. Additionally, he accused his wife of blackmailing him with threats of suicide and of physically assaulting him, including an attempt to harm his private parts. The complaint also mentions that his wife’s family allegedly pressured him to provide large sums of money for a house purchase, and when he refused, the harassment escalated. Police have questioned the accused wife, who reportedly stated that she does not wish to continue the marriage due to a lack of compatibility. Investigations are ongoing. This case highlights rising concerns over marital disputes and allegations of harassment. In recent months, Karnataka has witnessed several tragic incidents related to strained relationships. On January 28, a man named Peter allegedly died by suicide in Hubballi, citing harassment by his wife. In another case, a man set himself on fire in front of his wife’s residence in Bengaluru's Nagarbhavi locality after she refused to withdraw a divorce petition. Additionally, techie Atul Subhash reportedly died by suicide after his wife, Nikita Singhania, allegedly demanded Rs 3 crore as a divorce settlement. Authorities continue to urge couples facing marital conflicts to seek legal and counseling support to prevent such distressing outcomes. #Bengaluru #MaritalDisputes #HarassmentAwareness #MentalHealthMatters #DomesticViolence #LegalRights #RelationshipIssues #FinancialAbuse #SupportSurvivors #KarnatakaNews ----------------------------------- Support independent journalism!
