This place means so much to me and I hope that this video can serve to raise awareness and compassion for this often overlooked coastline. For most of my life I assumed this area would be desolate, fished out and barren but I plead you to care because what we have is truly special. Many years I spent gazing upon my blue/green doorstep before finally taking the plunge and seeing it from below the surface. What I found below took my breath away and has captivated me ever since, there is a unique beauty in this part of the sea. Kelp flourishes as a testament to the resilience and tenacity of Moana and Mother Nature. Sponges and shellfish sift sediment as the Waitemata harbor breathes in and out with the changing tides. A few special fish defy all odds and make these frontier reefs their kingdoms. Unfortunately making videos sharing dive spots can invite unwelcome guests and there is a risk in putting this footage online. Fortunately diving here is impossible due to visibility most the time and the fish are possibly the most cunning you will find anywhere. Even when I'm trying to catch something my success rate is laughable. If someone is smart enough to catch some fish, surly they are smart enough to think about the big picture. This area cannot support a high level of diving pressure in addition to line fishing pressure. PLEASE DON'T KILL ALL THE FISH ;_; recently I have found its much better to befriend them, but that's a story for another day. Thanks for watching, I am so excited to finally be sharing this after so much time and effort. Apologies for the hiatus, even if you don't hear from me in a while don't assume iv given up. Huge appreciation to all the people who inspire me and keep me motivated to follow my passion. Thank you for hearing me out and giving me a platform connect more people with the ocean at a deeper level. 00:00 The North Shore? 00:44 Introduction pt.1 01:56 Introduction pt.2 03:56 Boat Strike 06:18 Trash 10:10 You Litter! 11:01 Why is the Water so Murky? 14:49 How we can Fix it 15:31 Marine Pests 17:09 Sea Glass 18:45 Plastic Scourge 19:45 Fish Mentioned 20:39 Marine Life at Stake 22:51 Safe to Eat? 24:20 Actionable Change 26:44 Hope // Outro 28:23 Note From the Author Most beats by Kade (DJ SharkMagnet), some tunes by Ai
