Having 72 hours of food and water ready is great, but 3 months or more is ideal, if reasonably possible. Our basement, aka The Dungeon, was relatively unusable until the smelly ghosts of previous owners were dealt with. We now have a working pantry to keep our emergency food storage organized, with room to grow. #novascotia #preparednotscared #preparedness #homestead We’re Lana, Mike and Phoenix in spirit. The world changed in 2020; and like many others, the life we were building took a big hit. In early 2022 we sold, packed up and moved to Nova Scotia. Our dream has always been to live at “the cottage” full time and make a life we don’t need a vacation from. We finally have our cottage on the lake where we can be debt-free and mortgage-free, with the goal to become more self-sufficient, and live sustainably.
