Ryan: Hey everybody, my name's Ryan and here at etrailer, we install, test fit, and review a lot of different parts. That way we could try to answer any questions those of you might have. And that's exactly what we're doing here today on our 2021 Subaru Forester. We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness.I know personally whenever I see Subarus going down the road, you see them doing a little bit of everything and that does include towing. And when you're pulling a trailer, you're definitely going to want a way to illuminate all the lights on it. That way you're not only safe, but legal as well. And I've even seen some people using light up accessories. A big one is cargo carriers for example. Put your cargo carrier back here, have some lights on it, you'll need a way to power them up. And so you're going to want some trailer wiring to get those going as well, and that's exactly what this kit is going to do. So it's really nice with these Subarus being extremely versatile as we're going to have a couple of different ways to use our wiring. So what I mean by that is where you want to keep it mounted or stored.Today our customer wants theirs inside of their vehicle. They don't use it all that often, and they'd prefer to keep it out of the weather. However, if you are someone that does use it all the time, or wants the convenience of having it out here, no big deal. You can actually run it through a grommet on the inside. I'll show you where that is during our installation portion of this video and mount it up here next to the hitch. That way it's easy to get to and there whenever you need it.However, with that being said, if you want to keep it inside, that's cool too. Easy to get to whenever you need it. Can open up your hatch, lift up on your floor covering, and it's right there in your storage compartment. So out of the way. All we'll have to do is grab it, and then we can just drape it over our threshold here. Anywhere is fine, as long as there's some weatherstripping, and you just want to avoid the latch. You don't want it to get hung up in there. Chances are pretty good if it gets in there you might tear it up, so just be sure to avoid that. What we're going to have to do is close our hatch on it. Now it might seem a little odd, smashing the wire in there; nothing to be worried about since it's on that weatherstripping, it actually can move around. And that's what this is designed for. So not going to have to worry about tearing it up or anything. And once you have it closed, we're going to have plenty of length to hook up to our trailer. So really convenient. The kit overall is really well-made. Curt has came a long way in their construction quality. So the connector feels nice and heavy duty, it doesn't feel like you're going to rip the wires right out of it or anything. So it should last for quite some time. It does come with a rubber dust cap to help keep the terminals protected. However, I do suggest using some dielectric grease, especially if you plan on keeping it outside, and just apply it to those terminals every now and again. That dielectric grease will do a great job of keeping them nice and clean for years to come. And if you need some of that, you can always pick it up right here at etrailer. One really nice thing about this kit too, is the fact that it uses a module box, and what that's going to do is protect your Subaru's factory wiring if a short or an electrical issue we're to occur on the trailer side. So I'd really put my mind at ease knowing that our factory wiring is going to stay protected, and we're not going to jeopardize any of these complicated electronics that are in today's Foresters. With that being said, as far as the installation goes, it is very simple. It really don't get much more straight forward. Essentially are going to have to do is plug it right into a factory connector, ground it out, and you're pretty much done. You're ready to hook up your trailer and hit the road. So shouldn't give you too many issues or take your whole lot of time. Speaking of which let's go ahead and do that together now.To begin our installation, we're going to be here at the back of our Forester, and we're going to need to locate our factory connector plug, which is located just inside. So we'll open up our hatch, and
